Henry, Nearest similar sort of sound would be he Ondes Martinot - The new Sonic Couture Ondes library is simply stunning with the mod wheel used to determine glide times, touch for volume and after touch for vibrato - Choices of speaker cabinets, all kinds of wonderful presets Etc etc and not very expensive Give it a go! There are some fantastic theremin patches in Omnisphere, the best I've heard.
