The Status of the publish will display under the panes on the left and will let you know when it has finished.

As far as I am aware. NET 4 was what it was using but I am told that my computer is up to date it is as if it cannot find the exe file to launch the program - it freezes and the only way you can get it to go away is by clicking on it till eventually you get a massage that says that the program could not be opened and that MS will come back when it found a solution I am trying to download Visual Studio now to see if that is my solution Regards yvonne.

Hi Dave I am busy downloading it now, but I did not ask for all of the stuff I think I mainly picked everything from the first section is you know what I mean I think all the other categories was for serious developing - I basically just use it for internet adverts I guess I should have switched years ago but I started out on Front Page! Yes, Visual Studio is a large installation, it does include a lot of functionality you will not require. But you only need to use the bits that you need and ignore the rest. OK Yvonne, please let me know!!

If you are publishing to the hosting root it is likely that you will never see the changes.
As Scott pointed out most commercial hosting has a public directory which is your website root.
